Jewelweed-Plantain Bar Soap
Every year, the jewelweed blooms on the hill behind my house, and every year I notice more poison ivy popping up around the area as well.
Because of this, I decided to make some soap with jewelweed and plantain to combat any poison ivy rashes we may get.
I infused the oils in this with jewelweed and American plantain leaves, both of which are known for their anti-inflammatory properties. Jewelweed, specifically, has been used for generations to combat rashes from poison ivy, poison oak, and sumac.
In addition to the oils, I also used a jewelweed-plantain tea in place of the water in this recipe, and fragranced it very lightly with skin-soothing rosemary and peppermint.*
Ingredients: Coconut Oil**, Water, Rice Bran Oil**, Extra-Virgin Olive Oil**, Sodium Hydroxide, Beef Tallow, Castor Oil, Peppermint Essential Oil, Rosemary Essential Oil, Spinach Powder, Turmeric Powder.
*This soap recipe is more cleansing than my usual soap recipe, and is therefore not recommended for everyday use.
**Infused with locally-foraged jewelweed and plantain
